Concept design · Bookshop site with drawn covers, live stock and reserve-to-collect
Kagaj Books
Kagaj (कागज) means paper. This imagined bookshop in an old Bakhundol house stocks Nepali classics and world fiction, with a reading room upstairs. The site is literary and warm: paper, ink, library green and ochre, a book serif, and a wooden shelf of spines you can pull books from.
There are no photos of covers: every cover and spine is drawn in CSS from the book's own colour, with Nepali titles in Devanagari. Twenty-two real books carry made-up prices and stock, with search, language and genre filters, a mood finder, and a book card that shows how many copies are on the shelf right now.
Readers reserve up to five books to collect. The server holds one numbered copy of each for three days and refuses a book whose copies are all held, and the shelf updates to say so. Books we don't stock can be special-ordered, and reservations are tracked from Reserved to Ready at the counter and Collected.
