Lahar Music Academy

Lahar (लहर) means wave. This imagined music academy in an old Lazimpat house teaches western instruments alongside the instruments of home: madal, bansuri and sarangi. The site is warm and editorial, with aubergine, coral and cream, arched photos and a sound-wave line that runs through every page.

Visitors can play a one-octave harmonium labelled in sargam, built with the Web Audio API, or let it play a tune. A three-question finder suggests an instrument and a teacher, and a fee calculator works out the monthly fee with exam prep, sibling and quarterly discounts.

Free trial lessons are booked from a live timetable that holds one teacher per half hour, and recital RSVPs hand out numbered seats on the server, so an event can never be over-booked. Families check their booking with a code, and the owner moves trials from Requested to Enrolled.
