Lapte Restaurant

Lapte (लप्ते) are the stitched sal-leaf plates used at Newari feasts, and here they give their name to an imagined family restaurant two lanes from Patan Durbar Square. The restaurant isn’t real, but the website does what a real one needs: it sells the food, takes orders and fills tables.

The centrepiece is a build-your-own samay baji. Tap choila, bara, egg or soybeans and each one lands on an illustrated leaf plate with a running price, then the whole platter goes into the order. The menu has 24 dishes with vegetarian, spice and search filters, and a cart that checks out for pickup or delivery with real time slots.

Table booking lets guests pick their exact table on floor plans of the courtyard, the floor-seating dabali room and the rooftop facing the temples, then download a calendar file. A festival calendar highlights this season’s feast, and an estimator prices private feasts for 12 to 60 guests. All hand-coded, no frameworks.
